Richard Milward was born in 1984 in Middlesbrough, by Caesarian Section. In 2007, his debut novel, Apples (Faber), was published when Richard was the ripe age of twenty-two, to great critical acclaim. Apples has been produced for the stage by Northern Stage and Company of Angels, and is currently on a national tour.
Richard’s second novel, Ten Storey Love Song (Faber), was released in the UK in February 2009, receiving accolades from such folk as Irvine Welsh (‘a major talent’).
To date, his books have been translated into 7 different languages, and his writing has appeared in countless papers and magazines, from Arena to Vice.
In June 2008, Richard graduated from Byam Shaw at Central St Martin’s College of Art and Design, London, with a degree in Fine Art. He has exhibited his psychedelic, slapdash artwork at Waterstone’s bookshops across the UK; Galerie Quartair in The Hague, Netherlands; as well as the bonny, bohemian Amuti Gallery, in London.
He is currently working on a new novel, a Surrealistic death comedy, set to be published in 2012.
